And it’s interesting because no matter how different these people are, there is one similar problem that they all share, and that is FOCUS. And this may sound silly, obvious and even cliché, but focus is the one thing that can make the difference between success and failure in the Network Marketing industry.

There are 3 types of focus that plagues people in this business.

1. Lack Of Time & Commitment To The Business

This one is obvious and is the most common. Most people that join the MLM industry are normally working a fulltime job and are either looking for some extra money on the side, or are looking to start off that way and eventually move into the business full time. The problem though is that most people are busy and are not willing to put much effort into their MLM business. Now, it is possible to make money from this business part time, but in order to do that, it requires a little focus and dedication.

A lot of people will put in a couple of hours a week into their business, not get any results, and then complain that this industry is too tough and then quit after about a month or so. Putting in 2 hours a week into your MLM business will not make you a cent. Maybe a few dollars if you’re lucky. But in order to be effective, even as a part timer you will need to put aside at least 2 to 3 hours a day into your business if you want to see any real developments. And if you’re serious about making some extra money, by hook or by crook, you should find a way to make that happen.

2. Lack Of Patience

People tend to forget that Network Marketing is a real business, and just like any real business, it takes time to grow. And in this industry, there are many ways to generate leads and traffic into your business. But what I’ve seen countless times, is people trying out one strategy for a few days, not getting any leads or business from it, and then throwing that strategy out the window and moving onto another one. This becomes a vicious cycle, which results in total failure and the person quitting the business altogether.

The answer to this problem is to be patient. Focus on one or two strategies, become an expert at them, and keep doing them every single day. Do not stop and remember that it takes time to build some traction with your marketing efforts, whether you are building your business online or offline.

3. Over Diversifying

How many companies does the average person work for? I would say, just ONE. So why is it that so many people in Network Marketing, work with 2, 3 and even 4 MLM companies?! People seem to think that the more they diversify in MLM, the higher the chances that they will make money. How can people expect to be successful in 3 companies, if they aren’t even successful in 1? Focus is the key. We’re not buying stock or funds. Over diversifying will kill your business. Just stick to one MLM company that you believe in, and keep working at it until you bear some serious fruit.

After realizing how important focus is in this business and really adjusting myself in these 3 areas, I started to get some great results in my business.

So let’s dissect these curses and see what you can do to cure them.

Curse #1: Prospecting VS. Marketing

Most network marketers are told by their upline to “prospect” and pitch other people their opportunity. This means that you are constantly chasing other people. By “marketing” your business the right way using articles, videos, blogs etc. you can position yourself as a leader and attract prospects towards you and your business.

Curse #2: Pitching Uninterested People

By pitching every Tom, Dick and Harry your opportunity, you are pitching to a group of unqualified, uninterested people. By using tools available online and by using smart marketing tactics offline, you can target a specific market of interested, qualified people who are NOT your friends and family.

Curse #3: Running Out Of Prospects

Everyone only knows so many people and when that list is exhausted you have to resolve to buying leads and pitching random people on the street. This can be tiring and expensive. Instead of doing this, you need to be attracting people towards you by advertising and creating good and free content by using a source as abundant as the Internet.

Curse #4: Running Out Of Money

Most Network Marketers spend all their savings because they are not able to recruit enough people in their first few months. Remember that this is sales and it does take some time for your pipeline to grow. The solution is to have a Funded Proposal where you can make smaller but decent income in a matter of weeks, not months even if people DO NOT join your main MLM business.

Curse #5: Little Or No Duplication

The average Network Marketer still has a full time job. So where will they find the time to train every single one of their new recruits? It becomes an endless and tiring cycle of training new reps and retraining old reps. Instead, there needs to be a system in place where new reps can go and plug themselves in to get all the training they need through webinars, tools and resources.

Curse #6: Repeated And Wasted Effort

Going to 10 meetings a day to pitch your business opportunity for your entire career as a network marketer can be extremely challenging. People run out of steam and it becomes very repetitive. It is easier to be able to create good content like articles and videos and post them on specific sites online where they will never disappear and will work for you on auto pilot 24/7.

Curse #7:  Unable To Build Trust Without Constant Follow Up

In order to be successful, network marketers are always playing the “follow up” game. It is essential to building trust with prospects especially when you start to hit the cold market. You can build a much more meaningful relationship with your prospects on auto pilot just by setting up your own auto responder email series and incorporating videos and other media of yourself.

Curse #8: Stuck In Prehistoric Times

Over 95% of Network Marketers out there are still stuck in prehistoric times and are using very old methods which are ineffective for most people, to try to capture modern day prospects. Why not use current forms of marketing like the Internet and other modern day tactics which are much more effective.

Curse #9: Wrong Mentality

A lot of Network Marketers out there think that this business is a “get rich quick” thing. They come in with the wrong attitude, get burnt and then wail about how all MLM’s are a scam. The sooner they understand that Network Marketing is a real business and takes time to build, the better it will serve them.

Spread your eggs into different baskets. That is what we are taught. We are not buying stocks and investments here however. And with Network Marketing, it is important to focus on ONE opportunity. Carbon Copy PRO is a Funded Proposal in the front end and is really a “high ticket” MLM company in the backend.

People are required to pay $37 for the application kit. Now what this does is pre-qualifies your leads for you. If someone is not willing to pay a small fee for their financial future, then you know they are not serious and they are probably not worth the trouble.

This application fee is paid to members as an affiliate commission as well as their “Business In A Box” system which pays out $200 per sale. There is also another layer of affiliate commissions that a member will earn from others using the Carbon Copy PRO system.

All these commissions can be made even before you start marketing their “real” business on the backend which is a “high ticket” program for serious entrepreneurs.

You guys know exactly what I’m talking about. I’m talking about things like adding 50 friends on Twitter everyday, or adding 30 friends on Facebook everyday. Writing articles and posting them on websites like Squidoo, Hubpages and Ezinearticles just to name a few. All this stuff takes up a lot of time. You could spend hours just coming up with good content to put up on your article sites and these really don’t generate too much traffic for you at the start. But of course is very important to keep doing because it generates leads over time.

Now, when I was first introduced to this concept of outsourcing, I didn’t really think too much of it because I wanted to do everything myself. It was my home business. I wanted to be involved. I wanted to have control over everything. But after a while, it didn’t make much sense because there was so much to do, there’s only one of me, and I was spread too thin.

If you look at all the leaders in the MLM industry, they delegate most of their work. And you don’t have to be a leader to start looking into outsourcing. And I know what you’re thinking. Think about how much more quickly you could develop your business if you had help.
