Now when it comes to Network Marketing, a lot of the time, that can be quite a daunting task. I mean, there are so many things you need to do, where do you start?

Well, what I’ve done is complied the 6 things, that I feel are the MOST IMPORTANT if you want to get your business in the “green” as quickly as possible. The information that I’m about to give you are tips and strategies that I have collected over time and is the culmination of trial and error and spending thousands of dollars on improving my knowledge through ebooks, courses and tools.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you it was easy, because it wasn’t. Achieving this type of lifestyle is a challenging task. Now before I begin, I just want to say that it is not WHAT you sell, it’s HOW you sell it. And I always say this, because it is the most important thing to understand, and too many people get caught up with the actual business opportunity. Of course it does help that you’re with a good company and that they have a decent compensation plan. But then, why else would you be with an opportunity if not for these reasons? So, it is not these things that become the most important component when we are talking about achieving success in your business. What is important, is your marketing, your execution and the strategy you put in place.

1. Choose A Good Company
I know I just said this is not the most important thing, but that is why it only takes up one point and not this entire article. Pick a good Network Marketing company that has been around for a few years and that sells a decent product. Make sure the compensation plan is something you understand and pays you for actually doing the work. Never join prelaunches. 9 out of 10 prelaunches fail within the first 3 months. It’s not worth taking the risk, even if you are promised to “get in from the ground level”.

2. Self Branding
If you want to have people calling you, instead of the other way round, this is the only way to market. Forget what you think you know about selling products. If you want to make the most out of your network marketing career, the only thing you will need to learn how to sell is YOU. This is a people business. People join other people, they don’t join companies. People need help and they want to follow a leader. That leader is YOU.

3. Leverage The Internet
Old school methods like talking to friends and family are possible but extremely difficult to get good results. The earlier you embrace the power of the Internet, the more likely you will get better results. The reach is incredible, and there are tools which are designed to leverage your time and reduce wastage. It is also the easiest way to truly have a worldwide business instead of just a local one.

4. Online Marketing System
Education is the KEY in this business. Top earners are NOT smarter, they are just more well informed. Therefore it is your main responsibility to get educated on the most effective online marketing techniques available. The easiest way to get this education is to use an Online Marketing System. You could learn everything and figure it out piece by piece and develop each process yourself which will take forever, or you can join a proven system that is already built and can do all this for you. The key is to have a system that teaches you how to market in all the different areas you want and gives you the tools to attract prospects to your business. This same system can then be used to train new distributors quickly and easily.

5. Multiple Streams Of Income
The problem with network marketing, is you only get paid if people join your business. This aspect of the business is the main reason why so many new distributors fail. Most people do not have enough money in the bank accounts to last that long. That is why you need to find a way to make money from most of the people that come through your business process, even if they don’t join your main Network Marketing business.

6. Focus
The secret to success in this business is to focus on what you are doing and to not get distracted. There will be lots of different opportunities thrown your way throughout your journey, and my advice is to focus on what you are working on. How do you expect to be successful in 3 different opportunities, if you aren’t even successful in 1? When it comes to network marketing, spreading your bets between a few similar companies is the worst thing you could do. Especially at the start of your career.

The last piece of this puzzle is to remember that a business takes time to build. This industry is a marathon, not a sprint. There is no quick and easy route to achieve success. So take your time, and make sure you take action every single day.

People always ask me what the secret to success is. What is the one thing I would recommend to make a Network Marketing business successful? And my answer is always the same. There is NO secret. Unfortunately, there isn’t ONE single piece of advice, information or action that you can use to move your business from a brand new entity to a well-oiled, money making machine.

Just like any business that you try to start up, it requires lots of blood, sweat and tears. Literally. It requires long hours of testing, tweaking and changing to see what really works. This strategy is called Search Engine Optimization, or better known as SEO. Now don’t let this technical term confuse you or turn you off. All it means is that your website will show up on the 1^st page of Google when people type in a certain keyword term that they are researching. Now the reason why this strategy is so powerful, is because studies show that more people tend to click on the organic results in Google rather than the sponsored advertising or pay per click ads on the right hand side. Use Google’s free keyword tool to search for keyword terms that are relevant to Network Marketing. Also check out the competition to make sure they are not so competitive that it will be impossible for you to get on the first page of Google.

When you create a website, be sure to fill in the Title Tags, Meta Tags and Description properly. It is essential that you use the keyword term in all 3. This is to ensure that Google will be able to locate and rank your website properly. There is no point having the most beautiful website in the world if Google can’t find it.

#3. Website Popularity

Google decides if something is important or not by the number of sites that point to it. So the more sites that have your website link on it, the more relevant and important Google will think it is. This means that you can have any number of articles, videos, websites or blogs that point to a website address that you wish to rank on Google’s first page. All you need to do, is create the content and start posting them on as many different places as you can. Then sit back and let Google’s algorithms do their work.

Last but not least, you do need to remember that this strategy does take time. It will take a while before your website can be located and ranked in the search engines.  So do be patient and you will be laughing all the way to the bank!

Everyone in this industry who is someone has got this down to a tee. And why is this? Well it’s simple. And it’s interesting because no matter how different these people are, there is one similar problem that they all share, and that is FOCUS. Putting in 2 hours a week into your MLM business will not make you a cent. Maybe a few dollars if you’re lucky. But in order to be effective, even as a part timer you will need to put aside at least 2 to 3 hours a day into your business if you want to see any real developments. And if you’re serious about making some extra money, by hook or by crook, you should find a way to make that happen.

2. Lack Of Patience

People tend to forget that Network Marketing is a real business, and just like any real business, it takes time to grow. And in this industry, there are many ways to generate leads and traffic into your business. But what I’ve seen countless times, is people trying out one strategy for a few days, not getting any leads or business from it, and then throwing that strategy out the window and moving onto another one. This becomes a vicious cycle, which results in total failure and the person quitting the business altogether.

The answer to this problem is to be patient. Focus on one or two strategies, become an expert at them, and keep doing them every single day. Do not stop and remember that it takes time to build some traction with your marketing efforts, whether you are building your business online or offline.

3. Over Diversifying

How many companies does the average person work for? I would say, just ONE. So why is it that so many people in Network Marketing, work with 2, 3 and even 4 MLM companies?! People seem to think that the more they diversify in MLM, the higher the chances that they will make money. How can people expect to be successful in 3 companies, if they aren’t even successful in 1? Focus is the key. We’re not buying stock or funds. Over diversifying will kill your business. Just stick to one MLM company that you believe in, and keep working at it until you bear some serious fruit.

After realizing how important focus is in this business and really adjusting myself in these 3 areas, I started to get some great results in my business.

So let’s dissect these curses and see what you can do to cure them.

Curse #1: Prospecting VS. Marketing

Most network marketers are told by their upline to “prospect” and pitch other people their opportunity. This means that you are constantly chasing other people. By “marketing” your business the right way using articles, videos, blogs etc. you can position yourself as a leader and attract prospects towards you and your business.

Curse #2: Pitching Uninterested People

By pitching every Tom, Dick and Harry your opportunity, you are pitching to a group of unqualified, uninterested people. By using tools available online and by using smart marketing tactics offline, you can target a specific market of interested, qualified people who are NOT your friends and family.

Curse #3: Running Out Of Prospects

Everyone only knows so many people and when that list is exhausted you have to resolve to buying leads and pitching random people on the street. This can be tiring and expensive. Instead of doing this, you need to be attracting people towards you by advertising and creating good and free content by using a source as abundant as the Internet.

Curse #4: Running Out Of Money

Most Network Marketers spend all their savings because they are not able to recruit enough people in their first few months. Remember that this is sales and it does take some time for your pipeline to grow. The solution is to have a Funded Proposal where you can make smaller but decent income in a matter of weeks, not months even if people DO NOT join your main MLM business.

Curse #5: Little Or No Duplication

The average Network Marketer still has a full time job. So where will they find the time to train every single one of their new recruits? It becomes an endless and tiring cycle of training new reps and retraining old reps. Instead, there needs to be a system in place where new reps can go and plug themselves in to get all the training they need through webinars, tools and resources.

Curse #6: Repeated And Wasted Effort

Going to 10 meetings a day to pitch your business opportunity for your entire career as a network marketer can be extremely challenging. People run out of steam and it becomes very repetitive. It is easier to be able to create good content like articles and videos and post them on specific sites online where they will never disappear and will work for you on auto pilot 24/7.

Curse #7:  Unable To Build Trust Without Constant Follow Up

In order to be successful, network marketers are always playing the “follow up” game. It is essential to building trust with prospects especially when you start to hit the cold market. You can build a much more meaningful relationship with your prospects on auto pilot just by setting up your own auto responder email series and incorporating videos and other media of yourself.

Curse #8: Stuck In Prehistoric Times

Over 95% of Network Marketers out there are still stuck in prehistoric times and are using very old methods which are ineffective for most people, to try to capture modern day prospects. Why not use current forms of marketing like the Internet and other modern day tactics which are much more effective.

Curse #9: Wrong Mentality

A lot of Network Marketers out there think that this business is a “get rich quick” thing. They come in with the wrong attitude, get burnt and then wail about how all MLM’s are a scam. Spread your eggs into different baskets. That is what we are taught. We are not buying stocks and investments here however. And with Network Marketing, it is important to focus on ONE opportunity. Making a list of all your closest friends and family and having long product meetings with business associates may have worked in the past. But this is the 21st century people. OLD: Making a list of every single person you know from your baby sitter to your mail man and trying to hassle them into joining a business that they know nothing about and probably aren’t interested in. Remember, not everyone shares the same dreams and values as you do.
NEW: Uses current marketing tools like websites, blogs and emails to market directly to a specific market of people who already believe in the business and know that it works.

OLD: Has to get in their car and drive to the 10 different meetings that they have set up with their different contacts and give the same old product sales pitch over and over again.
NEW: Uses tailored online strategies and tools to attract qualified prospects towards them instead of having to chase every single person that they know.

OLD: Has a corporate replicated website just like the thousands of other distributors in the company and pushes the company’s benefits just like 97% of the network marketers in the business.
NEW: Differentiates themselves by branding themselves in the front end and provides value and education to the thousands of network marketers out there who are in dire need of help, guidance and leadership to become successful.

OLD: Relies on their personal skills to build strong rapport with prospects just to get in front of them and pitch them their business opportunity.
NEW: Uses well constructed videos, articles and emails to build genuine rapport with prospects from all over the world, which in turn positions them as a leader and an expert.

OLD: Runs from meeting to meeting on a daily basis to speak to as many people as possible in any one given day.
NEW: Uses tools on the Internet to LEVERAGE their time effectively and creates material that never stops working and doesn’t get tired.

And the list goes on and on…

So, to stop being a dinosaur and to evolve into a modern day creature, who uses cutting edge marketing techniques to leverage their time, attract quality people, recruit business builders into their opportunity and create retention, make sure you embrace the POWER of the Internet.
