I was in the exact same position when I first started. I was fresh, coachable and green. I was also willing to do anything to make the business work. So I started as most people normally do, pitching everything with a pulse. Doing it old school. Face to face. Belly to belly. It was soon after, that I realized I could bring my business onto the Internet and learn how to attract people towards me, instead of constantly having to prospect and chase people that weren’t interested in my business. But that’s a whole topic on its own.

It was during this time that I discovered that the main reason people join this business – to make more money – was fatally flawed. You see, most MLM companies teach their distributors only one way of promoting their business. Which is to pitch as many people as possible, hoping that some will join you and help you grow your business. If you think about it, this means that you have only ONE income source. If no one joins your organization, you don’t make a cent.

This is the biggest reason why so Network Marketers fail at this business.

So, on my journey of discovery I started to incorporate a Funded Proposal into my MLM business. So let’s dissect these curses and see what you can do to cure them.

Curse #1: Prospecting VS. Marketing

Most network marketers are told by their upline to “prospect” and pitch other people their opportunity. This means that you are constantly chasing other people. By “marketing” your business the right way using articles, videos, blogs etc. you can position yourself as a leader and attract prospects towards you and your business.

Curse #2: Pitching Uninterested People

By pitching every Tom, Dick and Harry your opportunity, you are pitching to a group of unqualified, uninterested people. By using tools available online and by using smart marketing tactics offline, you can target a specific market of interested, qualified people who are NOT your friends and family.

Curse #3: Running Out Of Prospects

Everyone only knows so many people and when that list is exhausted you have to resolve to buying leads and pitching random people on the street. This can be tiring and expensive. Instead of doing this, you need to be attracting people towards you by advertising and creating good and free content by using a source as abundant as the Internet.

Curse #4: Running Out Of Money

Most Network Marketers spend all their savings because they are not able to recruit enough people in their first few months. Remember that this is sales and it does take some time for your pipeline to grow. Curse #5: Little Or No Duplication

The average Network Marketer still has a full time job. So where will they find the time to train every single one of their new recruits? In order to be successful, network marketers are always playing the “follow up” game. It is essential to building trust with prospects especially when you start to hit the cold market. Curse #8: Stuck In Prehistoric Times

Over 95% of Network Marketers out there are still stuck in prehistoric times and are using very old methods which are ineffective for most people, to try to capture modern day prospects. Why not use current forms of marketing like the Internet and other modern day tactics which are much more effective.

Curse #9: Wrong Mentality

A lot of Network Marketers out there think that this business is a “get rich quick” thing. They come in with the wrong attitude, get burnt and then wail about how all MLM’s are a scam. The sooner they understand that Network Marketing is a real business and takes time to build, the better it will serve them.

Spread your eggs into different baskets. That is what we are taught. We are not buying stocks and investments here however. And with Network Marketing, it is important to focus on ONE opportunity. The purpose of offering inexpensive products upfront is to make sure that you can generate a lot of small profits through affiliate commissions quickly in the short term, to pay for all your advertising costs and the running of your business, so that you can stay in this business for the long term.

This is a great Funded Proposal and is designed very cleverly by two of the industry greats.

Carbon Copy PRO is a Funded Proposal in the front end and is really a “high ticket” MLM company in the backend.

People are required to pay $37 for the application kit. Now what this does is pre-qualifies your leads for you. If someone is not willing to pay a small fee for their financial future, then you know they are not serious and they are probably not worth the trouble.

This application fee is paid to members as an affiliate commission as well as their “Business In A Box” system which pays out $200 per sale. There is also another layer of affiliate commissions that a member will earn from others using the Carbon Copy PRO system.

All these commissions can be made even before you start marketing their “real” business on the backend which is a “high ticket” program for serious entrepreneurs.
