When most people first join the Network Marketing industry, they think that they are just going to be product sales people. The only difference is that they are sales men on steroids because of the pay structure of MLM companies. And that’s the main reason people decide to do the business in the first place – for the money.
I was in the exact same position when I first started. I was fresh, coachable and green. I was also willing to do anything to make the business work. So I started as most people normally do, pitching everything with a pulse. Doing it old school. Face to face. Belly to belly. It was soon after, that I realized I could bring my business onto the Internet and learn how to attract people towards me, instead of constantly having to prospect and chase people that weren’t interested in my business. But that’s a whole topic on its own.
It was during this time that I discovered that the main reason people join this business – to make more money – was fatally flawed. You see, most MLM companies teach their distributors only one way of promoting their business. Which is to pitch as many people as possible, hoping that some will join you and help you grow your business. If you think about it, this means that you have only ONE income source. If no one joins your organization, you don’t make a cent.
This is the biggest reason why so Network Marketers fail at this business.
So, on my journey of discovery I started to incorporate a Funded Proposal into my MLM business. So when I look at what I’m doing now, I should have never pigeon holed myself as a “product sales man”, and neither should you. The sole purpose of joining this business is to make money. And when you finally understand that you can have multiple sources of cashflow, while you’re building your MLM business at the same time, this industry will become a lot more fun.
