There are unscrupulous individuals out there who are just waiting to make a quick buck from poor unsuspecting people. And this is the reality of the Internet market place.

So no matter how amazing your online sales funnel is, there is nothing that can create trust quicker than someone physically calling you.

So pick up your phone. Call your prospects. Let them know that you’re a real person.

It is not necessary to close the person on the spot. Instead just introduce yourself, ask them what their goals are, and then forward them to information that will do all the selling for you. The idea is to get out of the way.

Plus, unless you are generating so many leads or inquiries every single day that you have no time to call anyone, you really have no reason NOT to be connecting with your potential prospects.

I ran across this short story today which was written by Stephen Covey and it just really hits home on so many different points when it comes to having success in Network Marketing that I felt compelled to share it with you today:

Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter asked for a job in a timber merchant, and he got it. The pay was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.

His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work.

The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 trees

“Congratulations,” the boss said. “Go on that way!”

Very motivated by the boss’ words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day, but he only could bring 15 trees. The third day he tried even harder, but he only could bring 10 trees. Day after day he was bringing less and less trees.

“I must be losing my strength”, the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.

“When was the last time you sharpened your axe?” the boss asked.

“Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees…”

The moral of this story is that sometimes, it’s not about how hard you work that makes the difference. It’s about how “smart” you work. Also, when it comes to growing your Network Marketing business, it’s about keeping your “tools” sharp. And in our industry, our “tools” are our skill set. Now different people have different ideas about what skill set is important in Network Marketing. For me personally, the number 1 money making skill set is – MARKETING. If you don’t keep your Marketing skills sharp, it is very unlikely that you will have ANY success or lasting wealth in this industry.

It’s also important to not get too caught up with just “trying” to be busy. If you’re being busy doing non-productive activities, how is that going to help you move forward in your business? I see this happen time and time again and it’s just a matter of getting organized and spending more time on “income generating” activities and less time on things that won’t really increase your bottom line.

Lastly, just because you have been “cutting trees” for years does not mean that you cut trees well. You may have been “cutting trees” the wrong way for years and have picked up many bad habits along the way. So be prepared to take a good look at yourself and remember that there is always room for improvement.

So, spend more time on sharpening your skill set and success will follow suit.

There is a BIG misconception about “opportunities” that most people have CONVINCED themselves to be true.

Throughout my journey in the Network Marketing industry, I have met and spoken to many people from all walks of life. From successful corporate professionals, to the working mom, and all the way to the person struggling to make ends meet at home.

And it’s interesting because no matter how different these people are, there is one similar problem that they all share, and that is FOCUS. The problem though is that most people are busy and are not willing to put much effort into their MLM business. Now, it is possible to make money from this business part time, but in order to do that, it requires a little focus and dedication.

A lot of people will put in a couple of hours a week into their business, not get any results, and then complain that this industry is too tough and then quit after about a month or so. Putting in 2 hours a week into your MLM business will not make you a cent. Maybe a few dollars if you’re lucky. But in order to be effective, even as a part timer you will need to put aside at least 2 to 3 hours a day into your business if you want to see any real developments. And if you’re serious about making some extra money, by hook or by crook, you should find a way to make that happen.

2. Lack Of Patience

People tend to forget that Network Marketing is a real business, and just like any real business, it takes time to grow. And in this industry, there are many ways to generate leads and traffic into your business. But what I’ve seen countless times, is people trying out one strategy for a few days, not getting any leads or business from it, and then throwing that strategy out the window and moving onto another one. This becomes a vicious cycle, which results in total failure and the person quitting the business altogether.

The answer to this problem is to be patient. Focus on one or two strategies, become an expert at them, and keep doing them every single day. Do not stop and remember that it takes time to build some traction with your marketing efforts, whether you are building your business online or offline.

3. Over Diversifying

How many companies does the average person work for? I would say, just ONE. So why is it that so many people in Network Marketing, work with 2, 3 and even 4 MLM companies?! People seem to think that the more they diversify in MLM, the higher the chances that they will make money. How can people expect to be successful in 3 companies, if they aren’t even successful in 1? Focus is the key. We’re not buying stock or funds. Over diversifying will kill your business. Just stick to one company that you believe in, and keep working at it until you bear some serious fruit.

This, right here right now, is the information age. More and more people are starting to understand that and are slowly moving towards this business model.

If you think about, the old mentality behind working hard, earning a steady pay check, and then eventually retiring with your 401k or whatever retirement plan you have in your country….is a broken model.

First of all, why would you want to wait until you’re 65 before you start enjoying your life?!

You’ll be too old by then!

You need to enjoy life right now! While you’re young and able. Not to say that you can’t enjoy life when you’re 65, but why wait so long?

Life is way too short to work 40 years of your life and then find out that your retirement plan has either been wiped out, or cut in half because some silly CEO ran the company into the ground.

You need to take matters into your own hands.

You need to stop living in the past and move forward with the future.

Did you know that we’re transitioning from a “manual labour” society to a “knowledge based” one? People are actually paying more for knowledge NOW than they ever did before.

You CANNOT make money in the past!

There are way too many people who are stuck with business models from the past that were used in the 80s and 90s. Most of them broken and outdated. This includes network marketing companies that still want their reps to sponsor people by making a list of their friends and family.

It’s a joke!

This is the 21st century guys. It’s time to leverage technology so that you can have more time for yourself and live the lifestyle you deserve TODAY, not tomorrow.

And do it quickly, otherwise you will miss the boat and risk going extinct!

A “lead” is when someone comes to your website, reads the information on it and is interested, so they leave their name, email and phone number so they can start receiving more information from you.

…And you can see that under “Today” I generated 74 leads

And 60 leads the day before…

All this without even leaving my BEDROOM…

Remember…This business is ALL ABOUT traffic!

It’s a numbers game!

The more people that come through your system and see your business, the more business you will close! If you want to command a six figure income, then you need to have thousands of people looking at your business. Period.

Leads is what fuels your business. Without leads, you won’t have a business.

Therefore, when you learn to generate your own leads online and don’t depend on running around to 10 different hotel meetings, trying to make a list of the limited number of people you know, or buying low quality leads from your company’s lead vendors, then and only then, do you have full control of your business.

At this point…

The sky is the limit!

You can go as slow or as fast as you want.
